| Rebel is in the prime of his life, and Id like to find him a good home that could understand and love him. Hes got a bit of an attitude, which comes from his breeding, and he needs lots of handling. Not having anything done to him his whole life, I scared the bejeebers out of him trying to start lunging him with WalMart bags (the way Id seen one trainer do it) tied on the end of the lunge whip and it scared him so much he came at me. And he distrusts me now.
He had been a stud his whole life, only being gelded this past summer. I never bred him, because he is HYPP N/H, or a carrier. He is bred very well, and with the right training, could go on to be a great riding horse, and will have a sweet temperment once that distrust thing is gone and he sees nobody is out to hurt him.
I sold him at auction this past January, and having no idea he wouldnt bring a decent price, made no arrangements to P.O. him. He brought $80, and I panicked and tracked him down, being called an idiot and a few other choice explicatives for it, but I bought him back because I knew hed end up in the killer pen, with that low a price. He was bought to be put at stud, and he was plainly marked HYPP, but people only care about $$$, and he is a nice-looking horse with good breeding.
He will only go to a good home, as far as I can verify. He cant help that I never did much with him, but Im hoping that someone will see him and be willing to put the time, effort, understanding and love into making him what he could be; a decent riding horse at the very least, and a darned good-looking one at that!
Please give him a chance. He ties, loads, and stands to be trimmed with no problem. He is not up-to-date on Coggins or any of the other (last was in May of 8). I will have a new Coggins pulled before he leaves, if you purchase. Not been off the place since his journey to the sale barn this January.
Pricing him low because I know there are a lot of hurdles to getting him rideable. |
