| | Star is a black 2yr old mare. She was started lightly back in February and has really turned out quite nicely over the past 8 months. She is very light in the mouth and carries herself nicely. She responds well to leg cues and it wouldnt take much time to get her neck reining. She has a very comfy slow trot and nice lope. Her lope is not terribly slow at this point, I dont like working 2 year olds harder than I think they are capable of. So her lope is at a steady pace and on a lose rein. She doesnt speed up or slow down unless asked. She is very fine and athletic looking. This mare will be an exceptional barrel horse. She is calm and controllable when you want and will give all you ask and more when you want. (i have not ran her but can tell she has a lot of get up and go). She is very sensitive to leg cues and loves to run. (out in the pasture) She has a very large stride when compared to the other horses even though shes shorter than most. Star doesnt really spook at a lot, and when she does she just snorts at it or does a little scoot to the side but shes never ran away from anything or acted out of control. Ive always been able to ride past what ever she spooks at with a little coaxing. Shes been out on trails and through rivers and doesnt care about mud. Shes been on overnight camping trips and did fine on a picket line. Shes fine when you ride out on your own, she might whinny for the other horses a few times but shes fine after a few mins. Star likes to jump, even when I dont expect her too. Out on the trail she will hop over any log if you let her. She could be a good hunter over fences prospect in the near future. Really, you could take this filly in any direction. She has an agreeable personality and learns quickly. Im only selling because I want an older horse, preferably not black. Currently Star is in a pasture with only one other horse so I think she is developing into a buddy horse. When I ride her out of the pasture around home shes just fine but recently I found out that when shes at a horse show shes very anxious when her pasture buddy is taken away and Star stays in the stall. Shes controllable but doesnt like to stand still. When I took Star away and her buddy stayed in the stall Star would constantly look for her buddy and didnt want to relax. HOWEVER, when she was taken to a horse show by herself she was just fine. I want to be completely honest about her, I think this is just part of her maturing so I dont think she will be like this her entire life but right now she will need a patient rider. I find my patience growing thin since I am used to finished horses so I think she will be better off with someone else. Star is a major sweetie but shes still young, I think an experienced rider would suite her best so they could smooth out the edges on her training. I will get an updated video of Star soon but here is a link to her pictures http://s16.photobucket/albums/b26/minskeep/Believe%20in%20Dreams%20Ranch/STAR/. Pictures are in order from most recent (Oct 2009) to oldest (June 2008). Price may be negotiable and I may trade just let me know what you have. Im looking for a 4-9 year old registered AQHA or APHA mare suitable for barrels. Please E-MAIL Myah at blondie_chick05@hotmail if you have any questions. Thanks for looking. |
