| I have an appox. 13 year old Thoroughbred mare, Emily. She is 16.1 hands and just a big sweet heart. She is a dark bay. I rescued her from the auction, she was sent there along with 16 other Thoroughbreds who were emaciated, and in horrible health. Her feet were in really bad shape as well. I have had her since December of 8. She was incredibly scared and did not like to be around people- I am positive she was abused. She really took to me, and I spent a whole lot of time with her. She has done a complete 180 and she is the first horse to come right up to you in the pasture to say hi. She has grown completely new hooves and look amazing. She has gained weight, I actually had to cut her feed back due to the fact she was gaining a little too much! She was lame off an on on her right front due to her horrible feet, I had her feet looked at by my vet (Dr. Malarck- Edisto Equine), He determined it was due to poor hoof quality. Her hooves are in great shape now but still has some issues going lame on her right if she runs too hard. I have ridden her a lot, mostly on trails, but I would like to retire her. I am looking for some place for her to go and just be a pasture mate where she can have a buddy or too, get lots of love, treats, groomed, and live out the rest of her life, her past has proven to have taken a lot out of her. She is UTD on all vaccines, has a neg. coggins.
My main goal when seeing her at the auction was just to help her. As I did ride her, I did not plan to use her for my pleasure riding. I only wanted to nurse her back to health. Now that I have done so, and done as much as I can, I now need to find some where for her to go.
