Sable is an absolute pleasure to have at the farm. Easy, kind, sweet, gentle, willing and affectionate. She has a great work ethic. It is hard to believe that this phenomenal mare has only just begun her professional training under saddle. She first had somebody on her back in January 2009 and then after a handful of rides, was turned away again for 5 months. She is now undergoing regular basic dressage training at Harmony. She is light in the hand, easy and forward going into trot. You only have to think halt, and this wonderful mare will stop. She will be getting 90 days professional training and hopefully will be showing Training Level by the end of September 2009. At such time, her price will increase to $5,000.
Sable loves to learn, and is quick to understand what is required of her. She requires more work (understandably) on her lateral aids and she has not got an established canter at this time. She trail rides out quietly at walk/trot, in company, with a very young rider. She has not spooked at the heavy traffic that passes along the fenced in trail way. To date, she has offered no buck, bolt or rear. She is extremely laid back, calm and unflappable. She adores attention and loves to be bathed and groomed. She stands beautifully for vet or farrier. She loads easily into a trailer. She has not got any vices that I can possibly think of (no stall walking, cribbing, weaving, biting etc). A very affectionate and loving mare, she has a very calming effect on all who are around her.
She keeps to herself in the pasture. We can turn her out with any horse and she just keeps herself to herself, grazing quietly and causes no problems (such as injury to other horses, damaged fences etc).She has great versatility .. she shows potential for dressage, although her build and her demeanor scream out foxhunter. She has far more enthusiasm when I school her out in the open fields ... she has never tried to get strong or take off with me, even when the opportunity for her is there. She is a true confidence-giving, weight carrying angel!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Sable .. she is a pleasure to train, a pleasure to have at the barn and she will only be for sale to an OUTSTANDING home. This one will be an extremely reluctant sale, she is truly one of my personal favorite horses in my barn. She is currently ridden in a thick, copper, oval mouth snaffle and is extremely light in the hand.
She is up to date on vaccinations, current negative coggins, farrier and wormer. Sable is currently barefoot and is trimmed on a five weekly basis. She leads, x-ties, stands for grooming, bathing, farrier, vet etc. She loaded in my trailer without hesitation. Absolutely no vices whatsoever. She really enjoys attention .. she could happily take grooming all day long. She is inquisitive, playful, affectionate and extremely charismatic. The type of horse that will brighten your day, no matter what mood you are in.
Sable is just great with other horses. She really prefers her own company and is happy and confident enough to hang out and graze quietly, regardless of whatever hullabaloo may be going on. She is moochy with feed though .. she will show a horse off if they approach her hay or grain. She is not submissive by any means, but she is not a bully and will not hurt another horse. She will put a horse in line if they aggravate her, though.
Sable is a registered American Warmblood. She is undergoing classical dressage training. I have not attempted to take her over any cavalettis at this time. I could recommend Sable for any level of rider, but I would like to see her excel in her career with an advanced beginner/intermediate rider who will enjoy her, love her and give her the very best life. The home is my top priority for this wonderful horse.
