| Mo Dixie is a ten year old thoroughbred gelding. He had been raced as a youngster, but was retired because he is quite slow. When you ride him, you soon find that he is not a fast horse and doesnt care about winning. He doesnt mind if the other horses run ahead of him! After his brief racing career, he was used as a pony horse at the track for a while. He has nice gaits, a lovely rocking horse canter and a good disposition, a tad lazy. My daughter used him as a 4H mount, and rode him both English and western in shows and at the county fair. He has been to horse camp several times and has been a good boy. I use him to pony our younger horses and as a trail riding horse. He has also been used as a beginner lesson horse in the arena. My beginner rider niece has shown him in walk-trot classes. Hes a good looking horse that is very strongly built. People often mistake him for a quarter horse. We recently started him over jumps and hes pretty good. I think hed be good as a Pony Club mount. He would be a good horse for dressage or for jumping if you take the time to teach him. He is a good learner and very pretty. He is an easy horse to keep and is not afraid to assert himself in a crowd--hes not the type to miss his meals. My daughter has lost interest in horses, so we are downsizing. I hate to see this one go, but I cant ride all of these horses. |
