| A Major Slam is his registered name. At home we call him Jay and if you can figure out with horse in the pasture is him, just yell his name and look for the big bay horse with the white J on his forehead! Jay has been my horse for about 3 years now and I have enjoyed every day with him he is a joy to be around, weather it is taking a walk in the fields or winning ribbons’ in the ring he always brings his best and puts his whole heart into everything he does. I have decided to put Jay up for lease because I left my job as an assistant trainer to go back to school full-time, which has left Jay a little lonely. Jay was used to being lavished with attention daily and ridden 3-4 days a week, either in a lesson, out on the trails or just bushing up on his skills. Jay has had tons of training in English and Western Pleasure and Lower levels of Dressage. Jay has also been used as a trail horse, Therapy horse, Lesson horse, and he is the best buddy of my 4 year old daughter.
In his lessons, Jay has had rider of all different ages, sizes, and skill level. Jay has the ability to mold to his riders ability and though he is big his is very sensitive to his riders emotions and will never go faster is his rider seems nervous. Which for me is WONDERFUL? Because I know that he will ALWAYS keep my daughter safe. Jay also is gem for the vet and farrier, loads into a trailer nicely (although he hasn been tailored much in the last 1 1/2), baths (Just had a bath and hair cut 5/9/09), clips but is a little sassy for the ears but settles down after a minute (he just wants you to know it’s not his favorite), and can be wormed without a halter. Jay also knows how to lower his head into his halter to help put the smaller younger children that aren as tall, and when a child drops both stirrups he knows to stop so they won’t fall
