| | Polka is a horse that you cant help but notice. He is the kind of horse we all thought we wanted when we were children. He is a horse right out of the my little pony dream ranch. Polka is a leapord appaloosa gelding right in that perfect age bracket of not to old but not to young. Polka is 8 yrs old and is registered with the Appaloosa Horse Club. His registered name is Go Dash Smooth #592786. Polka is a for sure and certain an appaloosa when you look at him and all of his pretty spots. He has the typical Appy alaid back attitued that is easy to work with and excells with being rewarded for doing something right, you can do this with a pat on the neck or with his Favorite treat...Watermelon. If you have never seen a horse eat watermelon, it is just to Funny. Polka smacks and slirps and just looks like he is as happy as a horse can be. You can almost hear him saying thank you if you lean in close enough. He just loves it. Now, as I said he is all appy in looks, but if you look at his breeding this guy is bred to run the barrel pattern. HE is all running blood and has the build and movment to really do well in the rodeo arena. I have been working him on the barrel pattern and he is doing well running 18-20 second times, but this is his first week to have been exposed to the pattern and you can just tell how much he loves the freedom of being able to run. He also does amazing at poles. I have not taken him to a race yet but I would guess that he is going to do very well there too. He is great out on the trail and did really well sorting and penning last week. He has a good neck rein. Easy stop. He also rides english wonderfully and is easy for anyone who can hope in the saddle to go and ride. He has done well for my son who is 9 when we go out on the ranch to ride and will go off in the tanks with no problem. He is a good boy when with a group of horses out on the trail and does not kick or bite at the horses in front or in the rear of him. He is quite for tacking up and untacking. He also does well when cross tied, hobbled, picket lined, as well as just being ground tied. Polka is quite for the farrier, vet, as well as being wormed. He really likes having his bath and will back up to the hose with hit butt so you will spray it more. Polka is wonderful in the pasture and can be placed in the pasture with mares and geldings both and has no problems. He is easy to catch and knows his name. I have been using him for lessons because of the fact that he resonds so well to verbal commands I can help my younger students out when they need the horse to move in through their gaits of if I tell them to stop the horse and they dont I can hollar at him Polka Whoa and he hits the brakes. He is a good horse for anyone who wants a horse that is safe and sound , but also not half dead. He is as quite as the come but he is not a dead head. He will happily pick up his gaits if asked and is good in that respect to because when you ask him for a trot, he will hold it till you ask him to do something else, either walk of canter. Polka is lots of fun to be around and once again a horse that anyone can enjoy but who would be wonderful for someone just starting out because he knows so much. He plays all the parelli games, round pens wonderfully as well as works wonderfully on the lunge line. Polka has wonderful feet and does not need shoes unless you plan on riding him on super rockey soil. He also just rides in a D-Ring Snaffle or and O-Ring Snaffle. This is a wonderful gelding that would be a great addition to anyones family wether you are looking for a show horse for their child, a horse to rebuild their confidence, or a extra horse to have around for freinds and family (and you too!) to ride when they are visiting and want to go out on a ride, and you want a solid dependable mount that you can trust with you non-horse people family and Friends.
