| Dixie is a half draft/quarter cross. She is 15 years old this year. She is 15.2 hands tall. Anybody can ride. She must be shoed on her front hooves all the time, and we dont have a good farrier for that. She can still run and trot on soft surfaces without her shoes. But on hard, clumpy footing, she is gimpy or hesitant to walk. If we had a good farrier who knew how to shoe her correctly, wed be keeping her around. She will still go on the harder footing, she is just more tender about where to place her foot. She has flat soles, but I have heard that there are ways to fix that or at least make it better. Dixie still has a lot of life left in her... around here she is boss mare whether she is gimpy or not. This mare still runs around and kicks up her heels in play like a young filly out in the pasture, so with just the right person and the right farrier, she can still go many, many years yet. I have LOTS more pictures of her. Just email to ask. Dixie would make an excellent trail horse, youth horse, playday horse, also an excellent cow horse. Last fall we were going to help a guy move his cattle... she knew just what to do to keep the cows out of the trees. She is current on all shots and wormer. The picture above shows her prancing one day last summer out in the pasture. I have many more pictures of her... just email to ask. Thanks! **UPDATE**New REDUCED price!! |
